Can I buy an 8 channel kit with fewer cameras?

Yes. On a 4/8 kit you set the number of cameras on the kit page, anywhere from one to eight, and the spare channels stay free for later.

Which app do the kits use?

The Hikvision, HiLook and OEM Hikvision kits use Hik-Connect. Dahua kits use Dahua's DMSS app, and Uniview kits use Uniview's own app.

What size recorder do I need for 8 cameras?
