Sixteen Starlight eyeballs on a lower-cost 16-channel Dahua recorder.
The cameras are DH-HAC-HDW2501TMQP-A-S2: 5MP Starlight with a built-in microphone and a quick-install base. They record on the DH-XVR5216AN-I3, which has two hard drive bays. An 18-way 20A lockable power box feeds every camera from one place.
The recorder records every camera in 5MP Lite (Dahua calls it 5M-N), a reduced-resolution 5MP mode, at up to 10 frames a second. That is what keeps the price down. It is plenty for watching a drive or a yard and checking who called. If you need every pixel the cameras capture, the full 5MP version of this kit records at full resolution.
About the camera: DH-HAC-HDW2501TMQP-A-S2
Starlight is Dahua's low-light imaging: a larger 1/2.7-inch sensor that holds a usable picture, and often colour, well into dusk before the infrared needs to take over. Rated at 0.001 lux, it records 5MP (2880 × 1620).
Once it is properly dark, Smart IR reaches up to 60 m, the longest throw of the cameras in our Dahua kits, and it dims as people come closer so faces do not wash out white. The quick-to-install pedestal makes mounting faster than a normal eyeball. A microphone is built in.
